Bees For Development and Service Works Global

A unique artwork auction and an exclusive London Bee Garden Party is supported by a host of celebrities and artists in aid of international charity, Bees for Development.

Appropriately launched on World Bee Day, artists and celebrities such as Antony Gormley, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen have contributed works of art to an auction run for Bees for Development. This international charity, which uses beekeeping to provide a sustainable income for families in the developing world, and at the same time protect bees and their habitat, has caught the hearts and minds of a wide following, supported by the buzz of this campaign.

The auction will culminate at this summer’s highly anticipated biennial Bee Garden Party, which will be held in the spectacular gardens of Marlborough House in London’s Mall, by kind permission of HM The Queen on Wednesday 12 June.

Service Works Global, international provider of facilities management software, was keen to support this amazing international charity and will be managing the charity’s Twitter account, @BeesForDev, in the run up to the Bee Garden Party and the auction.

Sustainability is a matter close to home for both the company and the facilities management sector.

“I believe the role of FM is key in protecting our planet against climate change and environmental damage. As each workplace and facility takes steps towards preventing energy waste, for example through better maintained assets or smarter heating and ventilation strategies, this culminates in a sustainable change that will have a big impact on all of our futures,” comments Gary Watkins, CEO of Service Works Global.

He continues: “the work Bees for Development is undertaking to alleviate poverty in some of the world’s poorest regions through beekeeping is inspiring, and SWG is proud to support this international charity.”

About Bees for Development
Bees for Development is a charity working to transform people’s lives through beekeeping. Bees are incredibly powerful – they provide livelihoods to some of the world’s most disadvantaged people, play an essential role in crop pollination for food production worldwide, and maintain the planet’s biodiversity. For 26 years we have helped many thousands of people to keep bees sustainably and profitably. Bees for Development provides free information and support to beekeepers in more than 130 countries, and works directly with community projects currently underway in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Uganda and Zambia. Funds raised by The Bee Garden Party will be used to help 500 poorest families to begin beekeeping and earn the money they need to support their children’s education.
