Service Works Global (SWG) is once again celebrating success at this year’s Facilities Show, after exhibiting FM software to delegates at the Excel, London, on 18th-20th June. The show brought over 280 facilities management and building service suppliers under one roof, together with a number of free training sessions, conferences and seminars over the three-day event.
SWG dominated the centre of the show with interactive demonstrations of QFM, P3rform and its new BIM software, as well as speaking on a panel in the Workplace Technology Theatre. Visitors came to the stand in their hundreds to see how FM communication can be improved through greater connectivity, how to automate processes for quicker job resolution and how hours of reporting can be condensed to the touch of the button.
The company also debuted its new virtual reality (VR) BIM tool, which allows visitors to ‘walk though’ a building using a VR headset. The virtual 3D model is created by SWG using BIM data from any building, and can be accessed by scanning a simple QR code. This allows building managers or landlords to show their office or residential letting to potential tenants in any location, and also facilitates board approval of new building designs as communication and understanding are greatly improved compared to viewing a flat, 2D plan.
The team also explained how to create BIM models of existing buildings by demonstrating a laser scanner on the stand, showing visitors the resulting point cloud and explaining how this is then used to create a realistic 3D model complete with accurate measurements and colour-coded area classifications.
Gary Watkins, CEO of Service Works Global, comments: “The Facilities Show is always an excellent opportunity for us to keep abreast of the issues and challenges we are facing as an industry. This year there has been a significant interest in BIM and we are pleased to be able to meet this demand with our new suite of BIM tools and services.”
SWG has partnered with Facilities Show to publish a complimentary e-book, The Future is BIM, which details how experts view BIM, the opportunity it provides and the benefits that it can offer to the FM function and in turn to the wider organisation. To request your complimentary copy, click here.
