It’s been a busy few months in the FM world with in-person exhibitions and events taking centre stage. It has been wonderful to see clients and FM professionals adapt to the new normality after a tumultuous couple of years, and taking the opportunity to collaborate and network with others to share best practice. And of course, SWG has continued to work with our partners to share online webinars, articles and white papers to help guide the FM profession on technology-related topics.
Software launches
QFM Software Enhancements
Following the release of QFM 4.1 in June, there have been a number of updates and developments to various modules within the QFM product suite. These include extended features on QFM’s Permit to Work module to ensure compliance; enhancements to Dynamic Forms which allow for easier access to job, asset and data information; as well as additional functionality within QFM Stocks and Parts allowing for operatives in the field to provide more accurate information when it comes to ad-hoc parts.
Making the Move to Cloud Hosted FM
Cyber security is an increasingly high priority for businesses globally especially with many still working remotely after the pandemic. SWG’s optimum-performance and highly secure hosting via Microsoft Azure provides cloud-based access to the QFM suite of CAFM software, and PPP Performance Management software, P3rform. Comprehensive back-up, disaster recovery and system monitoring provides you with peace of mind that your data is secure, reducing pressure on internal IT teams and ensuring optimal performance of your buildings and facilities operations. With up to 99.99% system uptime with Microsoft Azure, and access to QFM and P3rform from any web or mobile browser from any location; find out why so many SWG clients are moving to a hosted environment.

A record number of FM professionals signed up to attend our webinar on Digital Maintenance Strategies in collaboration with SFG20, the recognised industry standard for planned preventative maintenance (PPM). As part of the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management’s (IWFM) ‘Navigating Turbulent Times’ webinar series, our account director Penny Brinsley, alongside a panel of experts, explored the role of technology and software in planned and reactive maintenance, integration and creating a balanced maintenance strategy. With an overflow of questions and opinions on this popular subject, catch up here and learn more about the industry’s position in terms of adopting different maintenance approaches.
The Return of In-Person Exhibitions
With in-person events returning to the forefront, we were pleased to get back to meeting those in the FM and PPP industries and showcasing our market-leading software, QFM, QFM Space, P3rform and our new QFM BIM functionality. We exhibited at the Total Facilities show in Australia, and the Health Estates and Facilities Management Association (HEFMA) and Facilities Show, both in the UK. Our sister company Service Works International (SWI) attended the PPP MENA Forum as Strategic Sponsor in Dubai. Each event had a selection of speakers discussing pressing challenges facing the sector. We hope those of you that visited us found it useful and if you missed us browse our resources or book a demonstration.
BIM and FM Knowledge Share
Improving Transparency in the Building Lifecycle
The value of data-driven insights is only growing in the built environment with the increased adoption of new technology solutions, such as BIM (building information modelling). Kelly Widger, General Manager of SWG’s Canadian and North American operations spoke to Canadian Facility Management & Design about how BIM can improve transparency in PPP projects and across the building lifecycle. Contrary to a common misconception, BIM isn’t just 3D modelling software, it is a process that uses 3D modelling and asset information to create digital representations of a building’s physical and functional components. Our article, Improving Transparency in the Building Lifecycle, is full of good examples of how utilising BIM within the building lifecycle can connect different phases of work together cohesively.
