Our parent company, Addnode Group, have celebrated their 20th anniversary this February. By providing a unique platform for entrepreneurs and leaders and supporting them, Addnode Group has seen fantastic growth over the past 20 years, including 74 acquisitions and a presence in 19 countries. One of the latest of these acquisitions was leading Swedish real estate company, Fast2, which becomes a part of Service Works International (SWI).

It’s been a busy start to the year in the FM world and for SWI, with the latest release of QFM software, a webinar exploring the benefits of using computer-aided facilities management (CAFM) software and a virtual user day for our Archibus client base.

QFM Software Enhancements

Early this year marked the release of QFM 4.3 which included a number of enhancements to the QFM platform.  These developments provide an improved user experience and extended features for the QFM Events module to improve event escalations, the QFM Wizard to provide additional details for logged jobs and enrichments to the QFM Parts and Stock module. QFM software enhancements are driven by our internal product teams and client feedback to ensure customers can continue to improve and streamline FM service delivery on site.

SWI Acquires Fast2

At the start of this year, Addnode Group acquired FAST2 Affärssystem AB (FAST2), one of Sweden’s leading suppliers of business systems for real estate companies, which now becomes part of SWI. Gary Watkins, CEO, says “The acquisition of FAST2 strengthens and broadens our offering. With the increased competence within our new joint organisation, we will have even greater capacity to support our customers with smart digital solutions for sustainable communities. Archibus User Day

Service Works International were pleased to host the 2023 Archibus Virtual User Day with guest speakers from Eptura and University of Bath. It was an informative, interactive day with client presentations, product updates and one-to-one workshops with representatives from SWI’s Account Management, Support and Consulting teams.

Cyber Security: Under Attack

As you will no doubt be aware, risks of a cyber-attack can increase with the implementation of more technology and smart devices. A CAFM system brings many benefits, but, as with any new system implementation, organisations must ensure that strong cyber security protocols are in place. Paul McCarthy, SWI’s CTO, spoke to PFM to discuss how to protect CAFM systems from cyber threats.

Virtual Models Supporting the Workplace

The pandemic has hastened the adoption of many workplace technologies, however one facet of technology that has gone slightly under the radar is the use of virtual models. The Use of Asset Registers Within Healthcare

When healthcare facilities are maintained with accurate, up-to-date asset registers, service efficiency improves, meaning hospital staff are free to dedicate as much time and resource as possible to contributing to the quality of life and wellbeing of their patients. In Healthcare Design & Management, SWI’s CEO Gary Watkins discussed how asset registers can help healthcare estates improve the management of facilities work and therefore providing a better patient care experience.

BIM and Smart Technology can Improve Building Efficiency

Paul McCarthy, CTO of Service Works International, featured in both FMJ and PBC Today, exploring the benefits of digitalisation in the built environment. Talking to FMJ, he discusses the benefits of using BIM in digital transformation and uses two case studies to illustrate how FMs can start the digital journey.

As advised in PBC Today, when implementing smart technology it is best to smart small with one project at a time, giving the chance to assess the data at each stage. The important thing to remember when investing in infrastructure for a smart building is that it does not need to break the bank.

Embracing Equity

International Women’s Day (IWD) provides an opportunity to both celebrate the achievements of women and reinforce the need for accelerating gender parity. To mark the occasion this year, four influential women within SWI spoke about the changes they’ve seen in the industry, what advice they would give and the women that have inspired them.
