SWG newsletter December 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year of innovation, collaboration, and progress. Across the FM sector, digitalisation continues to trend upwards, with more organisations adopting BIM, digital twins, and smart technologies; while sustainability and net-zero goals are driving demand for energy, cost, and waste reductions. SWG has been proud to support our clients in rising to these challenges and delivering measurably high value across their estates.

This year we have made a donation to UNICEF, whose vital work helps to protect children across the world, transforming their lives and creating a safer world for tomorrow’s children.

Software updates

As ever, over the year we have developed and launched new versions of and numerous enhancements to our product suite, now available for all of our users to upgrade their software experience.

QFM
Seamless integration was a key focus for new QFM releases this year, ensuring customers can connect their data and systems with better clarity and control. Software upgrades include new dashboards for sensor-driven monitoring of assets and locations, and automated triggered actions based on sensor alarms when using QFM BIMi and our IoT platform Senslinc; deeper SFG20 integration with their Facilities IQ solution for industry-standard maintenance scheduling; and improved BIM functionality with the ability to view or hide layers of BIM data  within QFM to aid maintenance task management. Information security within QFM has also been further strengthened with full SSO support using Keycloak for your data peace of mind.

QFM Space
We introduced several updates to QFM Space this year to make estates data easier to manage and maintain. A new extensive update to our NHS ERIC module streamlines compliance by aligning space definitions with the changing standards and automatically gathering required responses. The improved Floor Plan Viewer delivers up to double the render performance with a clearer and expanded range of visuals, while a new mobile survey tool enables teams to remotely collect usage and condition data from floor plan views on any device, online or offline. QFM Space now also offers a fire compartment module for better visibility of fire barriers and vertical voids a fire door register including locations and ratings, and the ability to record hazardous materials on a floor plan.

Archibus
The latest release of Archibus improved several key areas of operations, including OnSite mobile app as well as the BIM Viewer, Workplace, Space and Maintenance modules. Teams can now filter workspace availability for in-office days using the updated Workspace module booking, while BIM Viewer’s new in-person walkthrough feature displays a mini-map on the floor to improve navigation. Teams using the Maintenance module gain smarter data capture through checklists for equipment data with alerts where data falls outside of a numerical range, and OnSite mobile app delivers faster syncing, better offline performance, and quicker access to equipment details through new QR and barcode scanning.

User Groups in 2025

Throughout the year we hosted our clients and partners around the world at the SWG User Group events, creating spaces to share experiences, explore best practices, and help shape the future of our software. By offering direct access to product experts, peer insights, and practical guidance, organisations can get more from their CAFM and workplace systems.

Across London, Melbourne, and Toronto, clients took part in hands-on workshops on key topics such as digitalisation, IoT, reporting, and asset management. We heard real stories from partners Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust, University of Worcester, Plenary, Downer Group, and Honeywell about how they are using different features within our software to improve efficiency and save money. The conversations and collaboration were incredibly valuable, and we look forward to welcoming even more of our clients to future events in 2026.

Events and industry talks

2025 has been a busy year for events in the FM sector, and SWG has proudly been involved in many of them.

In July, we presented at Digital Construction Week about digital twins and how to use them for smarter facility management. Product solution manager Pål Janson and UK AECO technical & delivery manager Steve Rudge from our sister company Symetri shared their knowledge on how the technology is helping FMs to save costs and focus on proactive maintenance.

We also spoke at the FMA National Maintenance Summit in Sydney, with MD Samantha Fuller and account manager Roshan Jhoomuck taking the stage to discuss how to choose the right software for your organisation. The team delivered expert tips for FMs summarised in a six-step framework, helping FMs select software that could grow alongside them and avoid the costly pitfalls that can arise when technology is selected or deployed without a clear strategy.

CTO Paul McCarthy joined a panel hosted by IWFM alongside Symetri’s principal consultant & special projects lead, Daryn Fitz, and Simon Iatrou of Magenta Associates, on ‘A Changing Tech Landscape: Navigating Digital Transformation in WFM’. Their discussion explored how digital asset data and integrated smart systems are helping FMs to reshape operations.

Most recently, SWG attended the UHEI conference in Birmingham, UK. Edward Payne and Sophie Cross from Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust shared their experience with QFM and demonstrated how QFM BIMi is helping to digitise their healthcare estate and create a BIM model of their new state-of-the-art energy centre.

Thought leadership topics

One large focus for facilities managers this year has been the ever-growing priority for sustainability. With legal guidelines becoming more stringent, and interest from stakeholders building, we’ve provided clear, actionable steps for FMs to plan their net zero journey in the workplace.

We also launched a new blog series this year focused on ROI from your CAFM system, exploring asset management, PPP contracts, service delivery, and more. Through the lens of saving money and reporting on efficiency, we’ve offered our guidance on how to use CAFM to ensure it delivers maximum ROI.

Our monthly client webinar series, hosted by product experts, successfully showcased top tips. In these short sessions, we’ve shared software best practices, new features, highlight modules, and quick wins that users may not have considered. Customers can find recordings of the webinars on the Client Portal to refresh their knowledge any time.

ISO standard accreditations

This year, we reaffirmed our commitment to excellence by renewing our ISO 9001:2015 quality management certification and ISO 27001:2022 information security certification, the same standards we’ve consistently upheld since 2016. These accreditations reflect the quality of our processes and the priority we place on protecting data and continually improving the service we provide to our customers.

CEO Mats Broman said , “We are thrilled to again receive recognition for our adherence and alignment to ISO standards. This recertification proves SWG’s commitment to working at the highest levels of quality and security globally, providing customers with peace of mind that their data and systems are in safe hands.”
