SWG newsletter November 2026

Welcome to our November newsletter. Since our last edition, we’ve been exploring how connected data can support better facilities management, with new client case studies, practical advice on getting more from your CAFM software, and insights into AI and digital twins. Plus, catch up on our latest events and find out where you can meet us next.

Trade shows this season

We’ve been on the road in London, Brisbane and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, with our teams from UK and Australia meeting FM professionals and showcasing QFM and Geminus at major industry trade shows. We were also part of the conference programme, speaking about what FMs need to know about digital twins at Facilities & Estates Management Live, and running a masterclass on data integration and how to achieve better ROI from software investment at FM Connect.

If you missed us there, just drop us a line and see how we can help with your FM challenges. And in the final months of 2026, you can still catch up with us at the following conferences:

UHEI (University and Healthcare Estates Innovation), Birmingham, UK, 24 – 25 November: visit our stand for a chat stand and catch on us stage with our client TU Dublin on the 24th at 3.20pm, talking about how healthcare and university estates can improve sustainability through connected data.

Emex, the energy management and smart buildings expo, London, 25 November: CEO Mats Broman will be joining a panel at 11.10am discussing the EPC B regulations and how compliance can be turned into a long-term sustainability strategy.

CCPPP (The Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships), Toronto, Canada, 9–10 November: our team will be attending Canada’s Infrastructure Conference as we connect with PPP industry leaders and explore the future of smarter, more resilient infrastructure.

See everything, solve anything: introducing Geminus

Better building decisions start with better connected information. Join our live webinar on 11 November, 12 – 12.30pm, to learn how our digital building ecosystem, Geminus, can help you understand building performance, identify issues and make better-informed decisions.

Whether you’re already an SWG client or exploring your options, sign up now to discover how Geminus could support your next steps in digitalisation.

UK User Group

QFM, Archibus and Geminus clients joined us for our UK User Group in September. CEO Mats Broman opened the day by exploring how Geminus and digitalisation can help clients connect their data, gain clearer insights and make better-informed decisions. This was then followed by client case studies, panel discussions and guest speakers. The event’s theme of connectivity and collaboration sparked some great discussions on CAFM, AI, system integration and digital twins, and clients left with inspiration to do at least one thing differently as a result of the day.

Recognised for quality and security

We’re celebrating a decade ISO certified quality management and information security, having been again awarded ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2022. This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence, innovation, and the continuous enhancement of our products and services.

New case studies

Choosing the right CAFM software for your organisation is a significant decision, and one that is helped by understanding how others are using their system in practice.

Our two new client case studies offer practical insights. The first features VMCH (Villa Maria Catholic Homes), a for-purpose aged care organisation in Australia. VMCH’s previous CAFM could no longer support its goals so QFM was selected to strengthen its asset management strategy, manage contractors more cost-effectively, improve compliance and maintain high standards across all 125 properties.

The second explores how University of Worcester, worked with us and their lighting management system provider, Thorlux. SmartScan generates large amounts of data on the performance of each emergency lighting asset, so integrating it with the university’s Archibus IWMS software enabled faults to be automatically generated as work orders to improve efficiency and compliance. The project also led to improved sustainability and predictive maintenance – read more in the full case study.

And for those looking to go beyond CAFM software and towards connected systems, continuous monitoring and optimisation of building performance, we have a new case study with TU Dublin. Read how the university deployed SWG’s Geminus platform to make evidence-based decisions on sustainability while optimising campus performance by bringing together facilities management systems, BIM-based digital twins, IoT sensors and other data sources in one connected, AI-powered environment.

How to get more ROI from your CAFM software

The CAFM journey only just begins once a software is implemented – the true value lies with how well is allowed to grow with an organisation. Sometimes when FMs feel their system no longer meets requirements, the solution can be found by looking at how well the current features are being used. We’ve published new guidance on this topic in our guide to maximising ROI from CAFM software. Within can be found actionable ways CAFM can be used to provide potentially thousands of pounds of annual savings through better use of existing CAFM capability. The cost of fragmented data

Our general manager for North America, Kelly Widger, has been speaking to the press about the perils of fragmented building data. In CFMD (Canadian Facility Management & Design) magazine, Widger discusses how better access to building and asset performance data – combined with a payment mechanism – can greatly reduce the risk of contract service failures and penalties. In IFMA’s FMJ magazine, she outlines the real cost of poor data trust in areas such as maintenance, compliance and space planning, and how to overcome this.

Looking to invest in AI?

AI adoption in the FM is proceeding with caution, with security and costs cited as barriers. SWG’s head of global development Anthony Clark shares advice in FMJ on building a measurable business case for AI, connecting the right data and managing risks. He also explores how AI and digital twins can support better maintenance decisions and reduce energy use.
