UK Annual FM Software Survey Results 2013

This white paper reviews the results from the 2013 FM software survey, carried out by Service Works in conjunction with the award-winning news and research service i-fm.net, supported by the UK Facilities Management Association (now known as the Building Futures Group).

Expanding on the results from the 2012 CAFM software survey, this survey provides further understanding as to how organisations use FM software, the key benefits which have been established and how FM software fits into their estate and wider business strategy.  It identifies year-on-year trends regarding how CAFM and IWMS software is being used, investigates new and emerging trends such as the use of mobile technology in the FM profession and provides insight into how the industry perceives the importance of Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Conclusions drawn from the survey include the following:

  • Mobile ‘apps’ are now firmly positioned as essential facilities management tools
  • Whilst BIM is becoming an increasingly important area of focus within the FM community, there is still some confusion around its usage and limited adoption of BIM strategies
  • 93% of businesses had improved FM efficiency through the usage of FM software
  • 90% of organisations stated that FM software has allowed for better auditability

The white paper highlights the results from the survey and enables readers to draw conclusions about FM software’s role and value within the FM discipline.
